Especially When It Comes To God’s “Individual Callings” On Our Lives
Comparison and Envy can easily be one of the birthplace’s of division in the church. I personally believe the church puts way too much emphasis on the “size” or “level” of the callings on one another’s lives through useless comparisons as opposed to keeping the emphasis on being Unified as the Body of Christ. It just seems ridiculous to me to waste time comparing ourselves to one another instead of focusing on where we fit in together to be Unified and Glorify God like we’re called to do. It’s just another way for the enemy to keep the church divided when we need to stand together as the Body of Christ. As the scripture says the body has many parts, none should be considered more important than the other because they’re all required in unification to function as the whole and complete body. Just an example, but bare with me: refer to (1 Corinthians 12:12-26)
say Tom’s “calling” is equivalent to the whole right arm of the Body of Christ (via the opinion of people in the church who view things in this way) but Jim’s “calling” is equivalent to the pinky toe let’s say for argument’s sake, who’s calling is more important? While Tom’s calling might appear to be “bigger” as the whole arm of the body, there’s also a complete lack of balance without the “little” pinky toe, so we can say that both are required and equally important for one to be whole and complete. It’s wholeness as a byproduct of selflessness that’s necessary to glorify God, shouldn’t that should always be the focus? So let’s put the comparisons to rest! If knowing your roll and honoring God is the goal, self-exhortation bred through ego and self righteousness should never even be a thought. Comparison and Envy can only come from a self-centered place that we’re NEVER called to operate from. If Jesus was the way, the truth, and the life, then sacrifice through selflessness should be the goal to whatever point is required to be loyal to the love of God as Jesus provided. We’re to be the body of Christ for a reason, a body has many parts that represents the differences in all of us as Christians, but when we’re unified as a whole we accomplish what was intended by God for the church to be in the first place and complete Body of Christ. When we bring our own unique strengths together, working in the natural unity that’s created through our selflessness as God intended, we’ll prevail as God intended! Comparison and Envy of one another’s “call” or “perceived position” will just keep us divided and unable to unify, thus not being able to rise above like God intended. Your calling is your calling, no matter the “perceived size”, whatever that means to some. The sooner we “die to self” and accept our appointed roles in the Body of Christ the sooner we’ll become the complete Body of Christ. If we want to see real change in the world it’ll only be accomplished through our example of loyalty to the love of God and one another. It’s only through our own self-sacrifice (that we’re called to) that’ll cause the necessary catalyst required for the advancement of the Kingdom and what Jesus died for! Then you can believe we’ll begin to witness the beginning of true revival through our love for God, each other, and the reverence for our loving God! God Bless👊🙏🔥🙏
